As Kelly Hunt, Chief of Pharmacy at ReGenesis, cut the ribbon to officially open RHC’s new Family Pharmacy at the Woodruff Health Center, the crowd erupted in applause, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our community’s journey toward comprehensive healthcare. The Woodruff Health Center was decked out in festive decorations, stocked with yummy treats and gifts, and teeming with excited community members. It was an event that brought together old friends, neighbors, and the whole community in celebration.
Marlon Hunter, President & CEO of ReGenesis, opened the ceremony by thanking all the people who made this day possible: the hard work of the RHC Staff, Kelly Hunt and his excellent leadership skills, the support of the RHC board, and the entire Woodruff community who helped make this a reality.
Reflecting on the impact this new pharmacy will have for the community, Mr. Hunter said that the “unique thing about any community health center in America is its discount pharmacy. [Patients] receive…brand name drugs at a deeply discounted price. It’s unbelievable, and it’s actually the best kept secret about ReGenesis.”
As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), ReGenesis uses a cost-based pricing model when selling medications. This means that we are allowed to sell any medication for what it costs instead of its market value. For instance, Insulin at ReGenesis only costs around $30. However, the same prescription at a retail pharmacy would cost $300 or more before insurance. These discounted prices enable ReGenesis to continue working towards its mission of affordable care for all. Likewise, our free transportation services also aim to bridge this gap by delivering prescriptions to patients’ homes for free.
Kelly Hunt said, “This pharmacy for ReGenesis patients, offers everything.” This includes, “unbelievable prices, unbelievable accessibility, [and] resources.”
This new pharmacy will bring convenience and save patients time, as established patients will no longer have to get their prescriptions filled at a different location. At RHC, it only takes ten minutes to fill a prescription once it’s been ordered, meaning there’s hardly any wait once your doctor appointment ends. No more idly roaming store aisles while you wait for your prescription to be filled at the convenience store! For those who aren’t patients are ReGenesis, you can still capitalize on these great savings by visiting one of our retail pharmacy stores.
Mr. Hunt had this to say about the Woodruff pharmacy opening, “Woodruff is a perfect community for a ReGenesis Pharmacy. There is such a tremendous need for comprehensive healthcare here. From the first moment I walked on the property here I knew a pharmacy would help this community. We are now here to provide pharmacy services to help our patients with the most affordable prescription options, free medication delivery, and accessible pharmacy staff that are conveniently available onsite to address any and all questions. We are thrilled to be a part of the wonderful medical team at ReGenesis in Woodruff and ready to serve this community!”
Lee Bailey, the City Manager of Woodruff, gave high praise when he said that “[we’re] trying to build a complete city…and ReGenesis is a piece of that puzzle.”
His enthusiasm was widely matched by Kenneth Gist, the mayor of Woodruff. “We are just so excited about this pharmacy opening up,” he began as he took the podium. “It’s just amazing what [ReGenesis] has done…we really appreciate you all thinking of this little city in Woodruff.”
He also gave a special and heartfelt shoutout to his sister, Cheryl (the Call Center Manager at ReGenesis): “I wanna [highlight] my sister, Cheryl, I gotta give a shoutout to her, she’s so consistent. I tell you, she’s resilient, she don’t play.”
The crowd, filled with community members and RHC staff alike, laughed in appreciation. Cheryl’s commitment to the vision and mission of ReGenesis is felt every day in the way she leads her team and works to consistently improve the effectiveness of our customer service team in the call center.
As we look to the future, Valerie Sullivan, the Board Chair of ReGenesis, summed it up best: “I…learned how important ReGenesis Health Care is to our community and I’m very proud to know that we have a healthcare center here.” She continued to say that to have an “opportunity to have a prescription filled right here at the same location that you come to for healthcare is very important.”
She finished by saying, “Congratulations to those who work here, who are important, that helped to guide what’s going on here. Me, I’m the chairperson, I’m involved, but you’re involved in it day-to-day and make all the difference in the lives of the patients that come here.”
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all our patients, the community, and especially our incredible staff for their unwavering belief in our mission to expand access to comprehensive healthcare. Your support of our new pharmacy is instrumental as we work together to make affordable healthcare a reality for everyone. Thank you for your continued trust and partnership.
We look forward to seeing you soon at our new ReGenesis Family Pharmacy – Woodruff, where great care is always in prescription.
